By today’s standards, the novelty has a range of 1,000 kilometers, a two-motor propulsion system, all-wheel drive, and acceleration to a “hundred” in two seconds. The date when the car will appear on sale has not yet been announced, although the acceptance of orders has already been opened. Electric cars account for 70 percent of total sales in the Norwegian car market. In January, the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.3 surpassed all gasoline cars combined, as well as the Tesla Model Y and Model 3, which are particularly popular. Norway did not have a national electric car until recently, and the company, named after American engineer and futurist Jacques Fresco, decided to fix that. Several dozen local electric car fans pre-ordered the Fresco Reverie electric sedan before it even premiered. The electric car with a record range of a thousand kilometers is being developed for Norway, and the startup was forgotten about for a few years until it reappeared in 2022. The longest-range electric car is the Lucid Air, which can travel 837 kilometers without being plugged in. Mercedes-Benz is developing the Vision EQXX with a similar range of 1,000 kilometers, but it has yet to go into production.
The Reverie has nothing in common with an electric car called the Fresco XL. From the description on the startup’s website, we can see that the model has a two-motor layout with one electric motor on each axle and a four-speed automatic. It can reach a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour in two seconds from a standing start to 100 kilometers per hour. There are no pictures of the interior of the new items yet, but it is promised an eight-seater interior and the possibility to transform passenger seats into sleeping compartments. Currently, Fresco is looking for investors to help with the ambitious project and is in talks with unnamed “well-known suppliers. The company has started taking pre-orders for the XL but has not yet given a date when it will go on sale.
