The New York City Department of Administrative Services has ordered 184 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT vehicles for use by law enforcement and first responders. The Mustang Mach-E GTs, which will join the city’s fleet of nearly 30,000 vehicles, will be used by several departments and agencies, including the New York City Police Department, the New York City Sheriff’s Office and several other city first responders. The city is due to receive the vehicles by June 30, 2022, and $11.5 million has been spent to purchase them. It’s fitting that the electric crossover replaces patrol cars running gasoline-powered vehicles. It will reduce the city’s carbon footprint, and its acceleration and range will make it a reliable vehicle for police officers to get to their duty stations quickly.
